Career Exploration Days open REECs to high school students across state
Each fall, the Missouri Agricultural Experiment Station’s (MOAES) Research, Extension and Education Centers (REECs) provide local high students the opportunity to learn about careers stemming from CAFNR’s 14 degree programs. In addition to information provided by CAFNR’s Academic Programs Office and degree program recruiters, each REEC taps local faculty in extension and research to showcase their work.

Celebrating Missouri’s perennial harvest at the Missouri Chestnut Roast Festival
This year’s Missouri Chestnut Roast will take place 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 18, at HARF, and will include crowd-favorite activities such as roasted chestnut samples, live music, kids’ activities and tours of the historic Hickman House. This year the festival also offers opportunities to buy a locally sourced lunch prepared by Pasta La Fata, take a wagon tour of the research farm, purchase plants and trees, pick your own pumpkin, sample custom-made agroforestry ice cream flavors crafted by Buck’s Ice Cream Place, and explore more than 30 agroforestry vendors, educational organizations and artisans.
