Mizzou Field Days set for sites across state to showcase new technology, initiatives and research findings for producers and landowners

Many locations also host high school students to learn more about careers in agriculture, food and natural resource fields. 

Agricultural producers are invited to save the dates for the following regional events, which provide an opportunity for producers, industry partners and community members to see research in action, learn about the latest agricultural practices, better understand local emerging issues and connect directly with MU Extension specialists.  

From August through October, the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources (CAFNR) and MU Extension host field days and similar events to bridge the gap between academic research and real-world application. These events serve a vital role in the tri-part mission of land-grant institutions to take applied research directly to those who will benefit from the findings.  

These events are planned across the state at Extension and Education Centers (EECs), administered by MU Extension, and at Research, Extension and Education Centers (REECs) that comprise CAFNR’s Missouri Agricultural Experiment Station.  

In addition, a number of the centers will invite local high schoolers to visit for Career Exploration/Youth Ag Days throughout the fall semester to showcase agricultural careers and research, including Graves-Chapple EEC and Central Missouri REEC (Sept. 8); Hundley-Whaley EEC (Sept. 9); Fisher Delta REEC (Sept. 15); Northern Missouri REEC (Sept. 17; Southwest REEC Career Exploration Day is also Sept. 17, combined with producer Field Day); Wurdack EEC (Oct. 1). 

2026 Mizzou Field Days and Festivals include: 

  • Thursday, Aug. 6 (7 a.m.-1 p.m.): Northern Missouri REEC Field Day at Lee Greenley Jr. Memorial Research Farm near Novelty.  
  • Monday, Aug. 10 (7:30 a.m.): Fisher Delta REEC Field Day, Portageville. 
  • Tuesday, Aug. 25 (7:30 a.m.): Graves-Chapple EEC Field Day near Rock Port.  
  • Thursday, Aug. 27 (4-7 p.m.): Tomato Festival at Jefferson Farm & Garden in Columbia. Sample dozens of varieties of tomatoes and peppers, hear from tomato experts and get growing tips to improve your next harvest. 
  • Thursday, Sept. 3: Hundley-Whaley EEC Field Day, Albany.  
  • Thursday, Sept. 17: Southwest REEC Career Exploration and Public Field Day, Mount Vernon. 
  • Saturday, Sept. 26 (10 a.m.-3 p.m.): CAFNR Showcase at South Farm, part of the Central Missouri REEC, Columbia. See the farm that is truly Mizzou’s outdoor, local laboratory, and learn about programs in the Mizzou College of Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources. Tastings, demonstrations, hands-on activities, baby farm animals and much more! 
  • Friday, Oct. 2 (9 a.m.-1 p.m.): Producer Field Day at Wurdack EEC in Cook Station. Participants will tour the farm, view demonstrations and engage extension specialists concerning agriculture practices relevant to the Ozarks.  
  • Saturday, Oct. 10 (10 a.m.-3 p.m.): Missouri Chestnut Festival at the Horticulture and Agroforestry Research Farm in New Franklin (part of the Central Missouri REEC). Learn about, sample and purchase Missouri specialty crop products – like roasted chestnuts; tour the historic 1819 Hickman House; enjoy live music and kids’ activities; and learn about agroforestry in the beautiful Missouri river hills!
